How cool is it to get involved? For youth, involvement
takes on many different faces. Some hunt and
some fish. Some of the more ambitious youth
actually volunteer over their summer and/or
winter breaks with Federal and State agencies
and gain valuable on-the-job experience and
training in wildlife management including birds,
mammals, plants, and even law enforcement. Let’s
face it, without youth participation, the future
is pretty bleak.
Take a kid hunting with you the next time out.
Encourage your son/daughter/niece/nephew to
get involved and learn about wildlife. There
are many opportunities for the hunter, non-hunter,
farmer, and rancher. States offer youth only
hunting and fishing days. Many universities
offer programs where kids can learn about wildlife
in a field setting. Here are some links to those
opportunities:
This page is dedicated to youth involvement. We highlight
events for youth participation in conservation, hunting,
and fishing. We also feature organizations who sponsor
youth events and list out those upcoming events.
